iOS 9 Beta Expired? Here’s The Fix

Error message: iOS Beta Expired. Your iOS beta has expired. Please perform a device restore.

This is the error message you will get when you haven’t updated your iPhone or iPad to the latest iOS 9 firmware.

Say, for example, you are using iOS 8 Beta 4 and you never upgraded the device to iOS 8 Beta 5.

Apple closes the signing window of the older firmware, which leads to such expiry message.

Solution to this is to restore the firmware. At least that’s what Apple recommends you to do so.

But it isn’t easy to restore. First, you can’t downgrade to iOS 8 as Apple has stopped signing those firmwares.

You can’t even upgrade to the new iOS 9 stable version as Apple hasn’t announced that firmware. And it is going to take two more weeks for the release of the final iOS 9 version.

Depending on the iOS 9 beta firmware you are using, try to restore to the newest beta (if available). Also make sure you are running the latest iTunes player on your Windows or Mac computer.

If that doesn’t help, delete the driver from your computer and reinstall it once again. This step was recommended by an iOS developer, who faced the iOS beta expiry message on his new iPhone 6 Plus.

Just deleting old drivers and reinstalling it seem to fix the iPhone and bring it back to life. Apple’s website has a detailed info on drivers here.
