Contact Pictures in Messages App Not Available For iPhone 5s, 5c, 4s
When one of the Twitter user asked us why some of the iOS 9 users have contact pictures in the Messages app on their devices, we went to explore this further.
Let us say that you have saved your friends and family members contact details on your iPhone. Then, you have manually added a photo to each of these contacts – or synced it up with your Facebook account.
These contact photos, then, should appear to the left of your text messages like this:
Problem is: Your iPhone doesn’t show up contact photos like that. These photos are hidden.
What can you do? Unfortunately, even after looking into the settings, trying various options, we can safely say that this option is limited to a handful of iPhone devices only.
These iPhone models can enjoy the contact photos in their Messages / iMessage app:
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
Also, upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus can get this feature.
iPhone models that do not have contact photos include:
- iPhone 5s, 5c
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 4s
- iPhone 4 (which cannot get iOS 9 anyway)
This is how the Message app appears on older iPhone models (without the contact pics):
To get pictures of your contacts in your messaging app, you either need to:
- Jailbreak your device and install Cydia tweak (not available for iOS 9 yet) or
- Upgrade your device
