Can iOS 7.1.2, iPhone 4 Users Get iOS 9?

While millions of iPhone / iPad users are enjoying the latest iOS 9 firmware, you probably do not have that option. Your device doesn’t go past iOS 7.1.2.

Wondering why?

If your Software Update page shows “iOS 7.1.2. Your software is up to date” – then you are using an incredibly old Apple device.

Take Apple iPhone 4 as an example. It was the first “rectangular” phone from Apple that had this amazing iOS firmware. Back then, everything loved it.

And today, it’s stuck with iOS 7.1.2. That’s the final firmware update for this device. Almost feels like your school teacher has punished you for not doing your homework while your friends are enjoying in the field.

There is no other way to upgrade from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 9 anymore, unless your device is listed in our iOS 9 compatibility page.

Even old iPod Touches can’t get past iOS 7.1.2… and must live with that firmware forever.

We published this post for those souls looking to upgrade. Yes, there is no solution. And yes, you are using an old device. And yes, you can always blame Apple.

iOS 7.1.2 update was released in the year 2014 (June month) and iPhone 4 users haven’t received any updates since then.
