To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Select ALL PROGRAMS from the taskbar

The Home tab is open on the Ribbon. The six groups of buttons on this tab—Clipboard, Slides, Font, Paragraph, Drawing, and Editing—are related to creating slide content.

Now, let’s explore other tabs on the Ribbon:

  1. Navigate the buttons on the INSERT tab after clicking on it.
  2. This tab’s buttons are arranged into five groups: Tables, Illustrations, Links, Text, and Media Clips. These groups correspond to all the items you can insert.
  3. Navigate the buttons on the DESIGN tab after clicking on it.
  4. This tab’s buttons are grouped into three categories based on how your presentation will look: Page Setup, Themes, and Background.

To modify the background of your presentation:

  1. Show the ScreenTip for the Hide Background Graphics button in the BACKGROUND group.
  2. Click the BACKGROUND dialog box launcher, located at the right end of the BACKGROUND group’s title bar.
  3. Click CLOSE in the FORMAT BACKGROUND dialog box.

Now, let’s explore different themes for your presentation:

  1. Point at the third theme thumbnail from the left in the THEMES group; do not click on it.
  2. Click the scroll DOWN arrow located in the scroll bar to the right of the THEMES group thumbnails.
  3. Click the MORE button in the THEMES group.
  4. Point to different gallery themes and watch how it affects the slide.
  5. To exit the gallery without using a theme, press the ESC key.

Now, let’s navigate through other tabs on the Ribbon:

  1. Navigate the buttons, gallery, and live previews of the ANIMATIONS tab.
  2. Navigate the buttons on the SLIDE SHOW tab after clicking on it.
  3. Navigate the buttons on the REVIEW tab after clicking on it.
  4. Navigate the buttons on the VIEW tab after clicking on it.
