The answer is as follows:
Save your file as a PowerPoint file once you’ve completed modifying it. Next, click "Go to your account" after logging into your Microsoft.com account online. A box of dots appears in the upper left corner; click it to launch PowerPoint.
You can then choose to Download as PDF and Save As from this point on. Your internal links will remain intact.
The problem

The hyperlinks in PowerPoint are preserved when saving via the online version of the presentation, superseding the MAC creation tool.
Although having to go the extra mile is inconvenient, for those of us who still like Powerpoint over Keynote, at least there is a solution.
