How do you open a new document in Word

Launch Word.

Choose "BLANC DOCUMENT."

Alternatively, choose FILE > NEW > BLANK DOCUMENT if Word is already open.

Launch Word. If Word is already open, choose FILE > NEW instead.

To open a template, double-click on it.

Type a search term such as "letter," "resume," or "invoice" into the SEARCH FOR ONLINE TEMPLATES box.

Alternatively, choose from a category such as Business, Personal, or Education under the search box.

To view a preview, select a template. To view more templates, use the arrows on the side of the preview.

Choose CREATE.

See Microsoft Word templates for additional templates.

Now let’s look at how to open a document on my PC.

Get the Office app open.

Choose a model.

To view the templates if you’re already in an app, choose FILE > NEW.

Choose [[Untitled]] > SAVE.

Instead, choose FILE > SAVE AS.

Decide on a location for the file’s save.

OneDrive, your computer, or another location can be used for saving. If you want to be able to access your files on your phone, tablet, or computer from anywhere, save them to OneDrive.

Type in a descriptive file name that makes sense.

Choose SAVE.

Take one of these actions:

Double-click the file in File Explorer, or use the context menu to select OPEN by right-clicking the file.

Select the file from the RECENT list by opening the Office application where you created it.

We’ll then discover how to make a brand-new, empty file.

Certain Word versions might launch you directly into a brand-new, blank document.

In more recent versions, like Word 2016, opening a new document from a template or starting from scratch will take you to a menu called BACKSTAGE VIEW.

Click File>New to start a new document in Word if you already have one open.

The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N (or Command+N on a Mac) is another option.

Double-clicking the blank document option will cause it to open blank.
