How to connect Alexa to a Wi-Fi network

To ensure optimal operation, WiFi connectivity is required for Alexa devices. Follow these steps to connect Alexa to a new WiFi network:

  1. Open the Alexa app and select Devices.
  2. Connect Alexa to a new WiFi network by choosing the desired Alexa device under Echo & Alexa.
  3. Select Change next to WiFi Network and enter the network’s WiFi password.

If you are unable to connect Alexa to WiFi using the mobile app, you can use a browser instead. Follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser and go to alexa.amazon.com.
  2. Sign in to your Amazon account.
  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Choose Set Up a New Device.
  5. Select the type of Alexa device you want to connect to a new wireless network.
  6. Press Continue.
  7. Plug your Alexa device into a power source.
  8. Wait until the ring light on the device changes to orange.
  9. Join the network named Amazon-XXX (where XXX represents a unique identifier).
  10. Return to your browser and click Continue.
  11. Choose the WiFi network you want Alexa to connect to.
  12. Enter your WiFi password and click Connect.

Wait for the new WiFi network to connect to your Alexa device. Once connected, your Alexa device will notify you.

If Alexa is not connecting to your WiFi, there are a few possible reasons:

  1. Check if your internet is working properly.
  2. Try restarting your modem or router.
  3. Make sure WiFi is enabled on your device.
  4. If there are connectivity problems with Amazon, wait for them to be resolved.

If the above steps don’t solve the issue, you can try resetting your Alexa device:

  1. Disconnect and plug in your Alexa device from the wall.
  2. If a simple restart doesn’t work, perform a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will erase all your data, including settings and preferences.

To perform a factory reset using the Alexa app:

  1. Open the Alexa app and click on Devices.
  2. Tap on the Echo & Alexa symbol at the top.
  3. Select the speaker that needs to be factory reset.
  4. Swipe down and choose Factory Reset.

Following these steps should help you set up and troubleshoot Alexa’s connection to a new WiFi network.
