How to make AirPlay work

To successfully AirPlay content from your iPhone to your TV, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to the Same Wi-Fi Network: Ensure that your iPhone and your TV, Roku, or Apple TV 4K are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. Share Button: After selecting a picture or video, click the Share button located in the lower left corner of your screen.

3. Select AirPlay: Scroll past your sharing options and find AirPlay. Tap on it.

  4. Choose a Device: Select a television or streaming device to play the media you have chosen. You will see a list of devices connected to your network.

  5. Media Selection: The television you selected will display the media. Use your iPhone to play live photos, fast-forward, and zoom in or out.

If you prefer screen mirroring instead of AirPlay, follow these steps:

  1. Access Control Center: Swipe down on the screen to access the Control Center on your iPhone.

  2. Screen Mirroring: Select the button with the two overlapping screens, called Screen Mirroring.

  3. Choose TV: Tap the TV where you want your iPhone screen to be mirrored.

  4. Use as Remote Control: Use your iPhone as a remote control to manage what you’re watching on the TV.

To end the screen mirroring process, follow these steps:

  1. Swipe Down: Swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to bring up your Control Center.

  2. Select Screen Mirroring: Choose Screen Mirroring once more.

If you encounter any issues with AirPlay, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure Device Connectivity: Verify that all AirPlay-capable devices are turned on and placed close to one another.

  2. Check Wi-Fi Connection: Make sure the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have the latest software installed.

  3. Restart Devices: Restart the devices you intend to use for screen mirroring or AirPlay.

  4. Check Home Settings: Ensure that Home Settings are not preventing AirPlay from streaming media to a device configured in the Home app.

  5. Apple TV Access Restrictions: Check your Apple TV access restrictions if prompted for a password on the device.

  6. Resume Music Playback: Use Siri or your device to resume playing music if it ends abruptly.

  7. Check Volume: Make sure the volume is up and not muted on both your iOS device and your TV or receiver if you have trouble hearing sound when streaming video.
