Where to Activate AirPlay

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi network that the AirPlay item is part of. It is necessary for your iPhone to be linked to the same Wi-Fi network as your AirPlay device (such as an Apple TV).

  2. After choosing an AirPlay item, turn it on. For instance, turn on the speakers if you want to stream audio through AirPlay to them.

  3. Purpose the song or video you wish to share. Simply skip this step if all you want to do is mirror your screen without opening any apps.

  4. Disclose the Overview Center. You can swipe down from the top-right corner of the home screen if you’re using an iPhone X or later. Instead, you’ll swipe up from the bottom of the home screen on iPhone 8 and earlier models.

  5. To mirror the screen or share a video, tap the "Mirror" button. You can skip this step if you just want to use AirPlay for audio. If not, wait until you see the item you want to use AirPlay for, then pick it from the list to begin.

  6. To stream audio, tap and hold the audio tile in the control center. To play music via AirPlay, tap and hold this tile located in the upper-right corner of the Control Center. Next, select the speaker or speakers by tapping the AirPlay icon, which resembles a triangle with three curved lines.

  7. Link your Mac and speakers to the same Wi-Fi network. For AirPlay to work, the device you wish to connect via Wi-Fi must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.

  8. After choosing an AirPlay item, turn it on. For instance, turn on the speakers if you want to stream audio through AirPlay to them.

  9. To mirror your screen, turn on the screen-mirroring icon. You can project anything from your Mac’s screen, including streaming videos and images, onto an AirPlay-capable TV by mirroring its screen. Make sure you have this option available to you in case you need it, even if you don’t want to do it now.

  10. Go to your own video or song and open it for AirPlay use. To utilize AirPlay for playing a movie from a streaming service, for instance, launch the app or go to the website and choose the video. You can skip this step if all you want to do is mirror this screen.

  11. To mirror your screen, click the mirroring icon. It’s the new icon you added to the Menu bar, the rectangle with the triangle. Select the desired AirPlay-enabled item from the list to begin mirroring immediately.

  12. Music can be played via speakers using AirPlay. Here’s how to play music or other sounds through your Mac using an external AirPlay speaker:

    • Let’s investigate the location of the AirPlay button.

      • When an iOS app supports AirPlay, you’ll see an icon that resembles a rectangular screen with a triangle at the bottom. The triangle will alternately appear in the top right and bottom right corners of the screen.

      • If an app (like YouTube or Spotify) does not have built-in support for AirPlay, look for the casting icon, which is a rectangular screen with a wireless symbol in the lower right corner. After tapping it, select ‘AirPlay & Bluetooth devices.’

      • Choose the device to which you wish to send the audio or video. Sometimes, in order for your iOS device to connect to an AirPlay-compatible device, you’ll need to enter a code that appears on the screen.

      • Once connected, control playback with your iOS device.

      • When you’re finished, disconnect from the AirPlay device by tapping the AirPlay icon on your iOS device and choosing your iPhone or iPad.

  13. Let’s investigate why I am unable to activate AirPlay.

    • Verify that all of your AirPlay-capable devices are turned on and placed close to one another.

    • Verify that the gadgets are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have the most recent software installed.

    • Restart the gadgets you intend to utilize for screen mirroring or AirPlay.

    • Make sure Home Settings aren’t preventing AirPlay from streaming media to a device you configured in the Home app before attempting to do so.

    • If you’re asked to enter a password on your Apple TV, check your Apple TV access restrictions.

    • Use Siri on your device or your device itself to resume playing music if it ends abruptly.

    • Make sure the volume is up and not muted on both your iOS device and your television or receiver if you are having trouble hearing sound when streaming video from your Mac or iOS device to your Apple TV.
