How to Configure a Replacement AirPod

  1. After inserting the replacement AirPod into the case alongside your original AirPod, shut the cover.
  2. With the AirPods still inside, open the case, press and hold the setup button, and hold it in close to your iPhone.
  3. The model and firmware version of your replacement AirPod must match that of your original one.
  4. You must reset the original AirPod in order for the replacement to connect to your existing AirPod.
  5. Close the charging case lid after inserting the new and old AirPods.
  6. Make sure the indicator light flashes amber by opening the lid.
  7. To make the indicator light flash white, press and hold the SETUP BUTTON located on the case’s back.
  8. Navigate to the iPhone home screen.
  9. Take off the cover and put the AirPods case next to your iPhone.
  10. The AirPods must stay completely seated inside the case.

  13. Press SKIP.
  14. Press NOT NOW.
  15. Press DONE.
  16. Apple will sell you a replacement AirPod, but it won’t pair with your current AirPod by default.
  17. If the new AirPod still won’t connect, consider doing a factory reset on them.

  20. Slide the charging case open.
  21. Hold down the setup button until the amber flashing indicator light appears.
  22. Re-plug your AirPods into your smartphone.
