Saving a PowerPoint Presentation

  1. Navigate to FILE > OPTIONS.
  2. Choose SAVE.
  3. Select the default file format under SAVE PRESENTATIONS, in the SAVE FILES IN THIS FORMAT list.
  4. Click FILE, SAVE AS while your presentation is open.
  5. After giving your presentation a name, select it from the SAVE AS TYPE dropdown menu below.
  6. POWERPOINT PRESENTATION is the choice. It may also have the file extension *POWERPOINT PRESENTATION (.PPTX)** and is typically the first option in the list.
  7. Press SAVE.
  8. As this will save in the older format, ignore any prompts to make the file compatible with Windows 97–2003.

Exploring the PPSX File Format

A Microsoft PowerPoint slide show is a file with the PPSX file extension. PPSX files, like Microsoft’s DOCX and XLSX file formats, use ZIP and XML to organize and compress their various parts. PPSX files can also be opened with other free presentation programs such as LibreOffice Impress and WPS Office Presentation. Converting PowerPoint to PPSX

Phase 1

  1. TRANSFER PPT-FILE(S)

    • Choose files by dragging them onto the page or from your computer, Dropbox, Google Drive, or URL.
  2. SELECT "TO PPSX"

    • As a result, select ppsx or any other format (more than 200 formats supported).

Creating a PPSX Presentation

  1. Start with a professionally designed, fully customizable Microsoft Create template, or start from scratch when creating presentations.
  2. Launch PowerPoint.
  3. Choose NEW from the left pane.
    • Choose a choice:
      • Choose BLANK PRESENTATION if you want to start a presentation from scratch.
      • Choose a template to utilize a ready-made design.
  4. Choose the slide that you want your new slide to follow from the thumbnails on the left pane.
  5. Choose NEW SLIDE under the SLIDES section of the HOME tab.
  6. Choose LAYOUT under the SLIDES section, and then choose your preferred layout from the menu.
  7. After putting the cursor inside a text box, start typing.
  8. After selecting the text, choose one or more options (FONT, INCREASE FONT SIZE, DECREASE FONT SIZE, BOLD, ITALIC, UNDERLINE, etc.) from the FONT section of the HOME tab.
  9. Choose the text, then click BULLETS or NUMBERING to create lists with bullets or numbers.
  10. Select the INSERT tab.
  11. In the IMAGES section, select PICTURES to add a picture.
  12. Choose the desired source from the INSERT PICTURE FROM menu.
  13. Look for the desired image, pick it, and press INSERT.
  14. Choose SHAPES, ICONS, 3D MODELS, SMARTART, or CHART under the ILLUSTRATIONS section to add illustrations.
  15. Choose the desired item and insert it by following the instructions in the dialog box that appears when you click one of the illustration types.

Differences Between PPTX and PPSX

  • The file extension of a PowerPoint file you receive—whether via email attachment or the company network—indicates whether it’s a working presentation file or a show file intended only for viewing.
  • The presentation working file uses the file extension .pptx at the end of the file name, whereas the show file has the file extension .ppsx.
  • The actual presentation that you see as an audience member is called a PowerPoint show.
  • When a PowerPoint presentation file is being created, it is a working file.
  • The extension for a PowerPoint presentation is called PPTX.
  • The extension for a PowerPoint presentation is PPSX. Presentations are saved in this format as a slideshow.
  • Sometimes all you need to do is open the file in PowerPoint and make a small change to the extension.
