Apple Stops App Reviews / Ratings From iOS 9 Beta

Are you using iOS 9 beta on your iPhone or iPad? Then you cannot write any reviews or leave your ratings in the iTunes App Store. That’s right! And we think this news might bring a massive smile on iOS developers.

Let’s take a step back and explain in detail why this is a good move:

You see, there are two kinds of iOS 9 users: ones you understands that the iOS is still in beta, and the others who doesn’t.

At the time of writing this article, we have iOS 9 in beta stage. And that means the mobile operating system is not stable – it comes with a set of problems.

Unfortunately, many developers and consumers do not understand this fact. As they try to explore the App Store and download their favorite apps and games, they will run into this common problem: the app / game crashes or stops responding.

When Apps Crash, You Leave Negative Reviews

That’s a very common thing on every old iOS firmware. Say if you are playing Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja on iOS 9 beta, and the app crashes? Then you can go to the App Store and leave a 1 or 2 star rating with a bad review.

But remember: there’s a greater possibility of the app or game crashing because of the unstable iOS firmware. Not because the app wasn’t well-coded by the iOS developers.

I still remember how users using iOS 8 beta were leaving bad reviews on new and upcoming apps. And that is why…

Review Feature From iOS 9 Beta Has Been Permanently Removed

It doesn’t matter if you intend to leave a negative or positive review, Apple has decided it’s best to close the review system until the final version of iOS 9 is released, which will happen in the month of September.

As Apple puts it, you are using a “pre-release” version of iOS:

“You cannot write reviews while using a pre-release version of iOS”

Good move? Yes, we think so. This helps iOS developers get the ratings they deserve, and not the ratings that they receive because of the unstable iOS 9 beta firmware.
