When iPhone / iPad Is Stuck At “Update Requested…” in iOS 9

How do you feel when you see the “Update Requested…” grayed out text in your “Software Update” screen? This error appears when you are trying to download the iOS 9 update on your iPhone or iPad as shown:

In short, when the “Update Requested” message doesn’t go away and you are stuck with it from the past 5-10 minutes… then remember these points and try them to fix the problem:

  • Allow the server to take requests.
Apple’s servers are busy and clogged on the release day. So, you have to wait. You can also close the “Settings” page and retry again.
  • Switch your network connection.
If you are using a home WiFi network, try to connect to a personal WiFi hotspot. Faster speed = faster access to iOS 9. Of course, you can’t get iOS 9 through 3G/4G LTE network. WiFi is your only option.
  • Reboot your device.
When you do this, you will have to restart the download process again (iOS 9 wasn’t downloaded yet, anyway).

What really works and fixes Update Requested?

Well, the fact that you should “wait” or get a better, faster Internet connection. We recommend at least 2 Mbps of speed on your iPhone or iPad to smoothly download iOS 9.

Installation happens offline – so that’s the second step of the process. First step is to download this iOS 9 update on your device.
