Temporary Fix: Outlook App Issues in iOS 9

So we were told Outlook for iOS crashes whenever you launch it on your iPhone / iPad.

This problem appeared on beta.

And when iOS 9 stable version was launched, Outlook app did it again: it crashed immediately on startup and sometimes “hangs” with a blank loading screen with the loading circle.

We have many tweets expressing this problem:

What’s the solution? When we reached out to the Outlook team via Twitter, they told us to delete the app and reinstall it.

Surprisingly, this seem to work well.

To Delete The App: Tap on the Outlook icon for 2-3 seconds until the icon starts wiggling (shaking). Then tap on “x” mark to delete the app from your iPhone / iPad.

To Reinstall The App:
Go to the App Store and search for “Outlook” or click on this link from your iOS device that points directly to the Outlook’s App Store link.

Once reinstalled, sign in using your Microsoft username and password.

Even if you are using Live.com or Hotmail.com – you can use Outlook to open, read, and compose your email messages.

At this point, this is the only solution Outlook recommends and a new iOS 9 optimized version, hopefully, is in the works – well, believe it or not, this Outlook version (1.4.2) was optimized and designed for iOS 9.

Outlook app for iOS was last updated on September 15th (one day before the iOS 9 release).

Update September 17th, 1 PM: Please note that deleting the app also removes all the configured settings from your Outlook, if you have any. That includes your iMAP configured details and login username / password.

September 17th, 11:30PM: We have received a tweet saying that Outlook works fine after reinstall, but it crashes when you add your Exchange account. Still no update from the Outlook team.
